Multi-family housing with 21 apartments
In a green suburban area of Berlin, a new living typology takes shape: a multi-family residential building. With 21 apartments of varying sizes from 45 m² studios to four-room units exceeding 100 m² the project introduces a new form of co-living in Berlin’s suburbs, with the potential to foster community and intergenerational connections. The project proposes a three- to four-storey age-friendly residential building designed to meet current energy efficiency standards. It provides 22 apartments of varying sizes, creating a flexible, barrier reduced housing structure for different life stages, including adaptable wheelchair-accessible units. Classified as building class IV, the building has a footprint of about 534 m² and a total living area of around 1,380 m², with 2,60 m ceiling heights. It includes a basement and a 740 m² underground car park accessed from the west. The site’s topography allows outdoor access from both ground and lower levels. A stair and lift connect all floors up to the attic, where a 15.64° pitched roof reflects the surrounding residential context.
